Le Marché du Film 201414 May 2014
In 2014, Cecoforma Events & Communication and its partner ConceptExpo planned and operated the European pavilion in the International Village at the Marché du Film for the fifth time
The 2014 pavilion was a brand new concept as this was the first run under a renewed contract with the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA). EACEA is the executive arm of the EUs Creative Europe programme. This pavilion is part of the Creative Europe programme support to the European film and audiovisual industry. Cecoforma leads the media-stands.eu consortium in providing these and other services to EACEA.
What is Creative Europe?
The European Union has been supporting Europe film and audiovisual industries for more than 20 years, first through the MEDIA Programme and now through the Creative Europe MEDIA[M2] . Creative Europe MEDIA supports Europe?s film and audiovisual industries financially in the development, distribution and promotion of their work.
What does Creative Europe fund?
This EU activity helps launch projects with a European dimension and nurtures new technologies, including video games; it enables European films and audiovisual works to be seen and find markets beyond national and European borders; it funds training, and market access worldwide; it also supports international co-productions, and audience development and film literacy
What exactly does Creative Europe do at film markets?
Support in promoting this industry and finding markets for its projects includes hosting stands at four major film and audiovisual markets each year, MIPTV and MIPCOM in Cannes, the Marché du Film in Cannes and the European Film Market in Berlin. These are umbrellas for participation of 150-250 European independent filmmakers (depending on the market). Participants enjoy reduced fees for participating in the market and a range of services on the stand to facilitate their networking, meetings and understanding of the industry, including at MIPTV and MIPCOM an advisory service.
How does the Cecoforma-led media-stands.eu consortium support this activity?
The organisation of the services and the logistics at these film markets has for the last five years been in the hands of the media-stands.eu consortium led by Cecoforma Events & Communication. Each stand is designed so that the structure, traffic flows, furnishings and graphics provide Creative Europe MEDIA with maximum visibility and make the work of the participants as smooth as possible.
What other services do we provide?
The role of Cecoforma Events & Communication?s and the consortium starts upstream of the event not just in preparing the stand and logistics but by providing participant management. This includes sending out a call for participation by e-mail to an extensive database and in ensuring the follow-up, including pre-screening applicants for eligibility. Participants register via the media-stands.eu website, a comprehensive website designed and maintained by Cecoforma Events & Communication.
Where can I find out more?
Go to the media-stands.eu website. On this website, you can find more background information, how to sign up, eligibility rules and fees. In the weeks leading up to the market, participants can find all the practical information they need, while the database of participants and EU officials attending the market is online for anyone to consult, and workshop and buyers briefing notes are also available for anyone to download. In addition, we coordinate catalogue listings, trade paper advertising and promotional materials, including rights to images of the films in competition. We also provide logistical support for visiting EU VIPs.
